Julia van Rijn completed her Bachelor's degree in Psychology (2018) and her master's degree in forensic psychology (2020) at the university of Maastricht (the Netherlands). Thereafter Julia worked as a clinical psychologist at the department for early detection and intervention of psychosis (Basel Early Treatment Service, BEATS) at the University Psychiatric Clinics Basel. She completed her clinical traineeship as a psychotherapist at the "Postgraduale Studiengänge Basel (PSP)" in early 2026.
Julia joined the Translational Psychiatry Research Group in 2026 as a PhD candidate/ clinical researcher for the research project 'IDEAS' funded by the Gertrud Thalmann-Fonds. The project IDEAS aims at longitudinally investigating symptom trajectories using clinical assessments in combination with theory-based behavioral markers of depression and psychosis risk in order to improve the prediction of illness trajectories in a help-seeking population at early intervention services.
