Lukas Sempach

Biosketch

Lukas Sempach is a PhD student at the University of Basel, working in the Translational Psychiatry and Translational Neuroscience Research Groups. His doctoral research focuses on the understanding of neurobiological underpinnings of depression and improving individualized treatment approaches. Lukas is involved in a randomized clinical trial investigating D-serine, an NMDAR co-agonist, as an adjunctive treatment for major depressive disorder (MDD). Additionally, Lukas was part of a research project investigating the biological mechanisms underlying probiotic add-on treatments in MDD. He also contributes to an ENIGMA MDD project examining neurostructural heterogeneity in patients with MDD. Lukas holds an MSc in Clinical Psychology and Neurosciences from the University of Basel and a BSc in Psychology and Biology from the University of Zurich, with additional studies at the University of Aberdeen.
