Stijn Nuiten joined the Translational Psychiatry lab in 2023 as a post-doc. Before joining the group, Stijn did his PhD under the supervision of Dr. Simon van Gaal and Dr. Johannes Fahrenfort at the University of Amsterdam. During his PhD, Stijn used behavioral experimentation, pharmacological manipulations, and continuous measurements of neural activity (EEG) and pupil size to investigate the role of arousal and top-down control on perceptual decision-making in healthy human participants. To analyze the rich datasets that he obtained, he combined computational modeling of choice behavior with univariate and multivariate analyses of neural data. In the Translational Psychiatry lab, Stijn is expanding his line of research into (pre-)clinical populations, with a strong focus on psychosis (proneness).
